Smug Beans 2: Mathematical Irregularities

The oh-so-smug green beans have been an unexpected hit.  Ain’t that always the way?  Spend hours laboring over homemade cheese, disgusting amateur butchery, and some nonsense with puff pastry about which I cannot even talk, and a 4-ingredient cold bean salad gets all the kudos.  Hmph.  I think I woke up grumpy this morning.  The situation has not improved with the discovery of a new neighbor across the street.  She is apparently a sexy fire dancer who must practice for hours in the front yard wearing a sports bra.  My husband keeps finding himself inexplicably drawn to the windows.  I guess he’s checking to see if our new lawn guy is doing a good job?

I am digressing.  The point of this post is to correct some problematic math and incorrect information about my beans.  In case this shocks you, I’m not so great with numbers.  Obviously I’m not so great with words either, but I’m a whiz at homemade jam!  We all have our things.

Correction #1:  The haricots vert cost $2.69, not $2.99 as previously reported.

Correction #2:  I’m apparently partying like it’s 1999, and the cost of grocery beans has skyrocketed.  Instead of $.99 per pound, they are a whopping $1.79.

This all means that while the SHFS beans continue to cost $5.99/lb. or $.374/oz., mine cost only $.29/oz, instead of the previously reported $.317! Grocery beans would cost roughly $.16/oz.

Isn’t this interesting?  Nope.  Not as interesting as whatever my husband has found with which to busy himself in the front yard for no apparent reason.

Hmph.

I go back to toasting sesame seeds in a grumpy silence.

Q:  Is this the most boring blog post in the history of weblogs?

A:  Possibly.

On the plus side, Wally The Bunny, a self-proclaimed terrible cook (who once allegedly messed up a two-step recipe by skipping one of the steps, and baking a tin full of cake mix powder with no water) found my previous bean blog positively inspiring and made her own damn beans.  Good on you, Wally. Good on you.

Good on us.
